Dragon Blade
I was stuck on the Island on Monday with the wife and we
were looking for a place to while away time until the traffic went down.
We decided on a Jackie Chan movie at the Silverbird Galleria
and we also got free drinks and popcorn and we thought to ourselves that we got
a good deal.
Jackie Chan would assure us of action and laughs. Jackie of
the Rush Hour and Shanghai Knights fame or so we thought.
The movie also starring Adrien Brody (King Kong) and John
Cusack (The Rock) turned out to be a deal buster.
The historical action flick is about a protection squad charged
with keeping the peace and led by Captain Huo An (Jackie Chan). General Lucius (Cusack) led a fleeing Roman
legion who were eventually aided by the Captain An and his squad, from a chasing
Roman army with the evil General (Brody) at their helm who was bent on killing
his younger brother.
The fighting scenes rumored to be choreographed by Jackie Chan
do not disappoint but the storytelling mostly done with a lot of flashbacks
left a lot be desired and leaving the viewer to piece the broken pieces
together.
The plot was ridiculous. At some points in the movie, you
could hear people laughing at the sheer stupidity of the story line. I could not
wait for the closing credits. A battle scene had eagles attacking the Roman
army, by clawing out their eyes for crying out loud.
I definitely would not be recommending this film to anyone.
Is Jackie Chan getting too old or something?
ReplyDeleteCould have been fooled that the movie will be a nice blockbuster cos of Cussack and Brody.
