Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak opens up with a flashback. This seems to be getting quite common. It is meant to hook you into watching the movie as you are usually offered a tantalizing view, like a slit in a skirt making you want to know more. However, it also serves as a spoiler as it gives you an idea of what to expect and the mystery is no longer there.

Anyway, as said earlier, you get an idea of where the movie is heading. It is set in the 1800s or thereabouts and our lead character has the help of ghosts to aid her against unscrupulous characters in the form of a dashing young man and his sister who are after her family wealth.

Hmmm, with a ghost, it should be easy for our heroine to know who the bad guys are but the ghosts were not so straightforward and left clues and stuff, so our heroine still pretty had her work cut out for her and hence makes watching the movie worthwhile.

It is a Hollywood movie and you know as far as costumes and set props depicting the time period are concerned, it would be nothing but the best and as such no need to go there.  So, we are left with just the plot and cinematography.
Plotline: 3 out of 5
Cinematography: 4 out of 5

Loki of Avengers (Tom Hiddleston) played the male villain. It was nice watching him again.
