The Rant
I have always gone to the extremes with Arsenal.
I fasted for the first time in my life because of Arsenal.
I wanted to go to England mainly because I wanted to visit the Arsenal stadium.
And most times how do I get rewarded?
*Sigh!* Hmmmm.
You know, most times Arsenal makes me feel silly. Here I am, investing my time, emotions ,money and I tend to end up regretting it most times. I cannot count the number of times I was invited somewhere or I was to go somewhere but I cancelled because Arsenal was playing that day. I installed DSTV because of Arsenal.
I would watch Arsenal's match at a friend 's place and when Arsenal lost the match I would convince myself that it was because I watched the match there, that Arsenal lost. I would then swear to myself that I would not watch another Arsenal match there lest we lose again. I watched an Arsenal match while sipping pepper-soup and Arsenal lost. I was then totally convinced that because I was enjoying myself and having pepper-soup while the match was on, that Arsenal lost the match and I would then make sure that never happens again while an Arsenal match was going on till -yes, you guessed it- Arsenal lost even though I was not having pepper-soup or enjoying myself in any form or manner.
Arsenal is mostly the butt of jokes in the football world so automatically as an Arsenal fan, you are the butt of other football fans. And boy, does Arsenal make it easy for them. Season in ,season out, the same hope dashed, same frailty, same everything.
There is a saying: "doing the same thing and hoping for different results is the first sign of insanity." My support for Arsenal does make me wonder at times.
Forget even the lack of titles, there is a little matter of bragging rights. Arsenal rarely takes its rivals to the sword. Meanwhile the reverse is always the case. Arsenal losing 1-5 to Liverpool, 0-6 to Chelsea and 2-8 to Manchester United just a few seasons ago easily comes to mind. This season, Chelsea has played its worse football ever, everyone was beating them and this was supposed to be the season when Wenger would finally break the Mourinho Jinx. Instead, what happens? Arsenal gets beaten 0-2. After which Chelsea 's season gets worse and then Chelsea comes to the Emirates and then what happens? Arsenal gets beaten 0-1.
This is supposed to be a movie blog. Please pardon my rant but the above rant is the reason why since the 23rd of January this year, I have not put up a blog. The 1-nil defeat by Chelsea was on that day. I have been sulking ever since. I guess my life with Arsenal is also a movie and by the above epistle, this particular movie would be titled "The Rant".

The best review so far. As a Chelsea fan, what better enjoyment than to see an Arsenal fan suffer especially when it's caused by the blues. This is a bad season for Chelsea but it is a bit bearable because neither Arsenal nor Man U won the EPL. Next year is another season for the Proffesor to perform his magic/trick of always qualifying for top 4 without troubling the winners. Like a joke I read- Arsenal on top of the EPL is like an elephant on top of a tree, u are not exactly sure of how it got there but you know that sooner than later it will come down. Up goners sorry gunners
