Self/less
Ryan Reynolds. My guy, what’s happening?
It’s been quite a while that I’ve seen a movie with Ryan
that really “tripped” me.
I was hoping this would be it, but I guess I’m still going
to have to wait a while longer.
There are a lot of movies out there and most times they tend
to be similar but you hope once in a while to get something different.
Ryan Reynolds acts the role of a soldier (Mark) who gives up
his life and body for a dying rich business man Damian Hale (Ben Kingsley). Using
new technology called shedding, Hale‘s consciousness is placed into the body of
Mark and he achieves immortality. Hale in his new body starts again to live the
life: Fast cars and women.
What could possibly go wrong?
Hale discovered that he was lied to that his body was
genetically grown -as he was made to believe. But the truth was that a living
being, with a wife and daughter, gave up his life so that he (Hale) could live
and Mark could pay the medical bills of his daughter.
At this juncture, Hale grew a conscience but the company
responsible for the technology wanted to keep this quiet and so the movie tries
to develop into a chase thriller but could not keep up the pace or suspense as
we have seen too many similar movies .
Plot line is also faulty,a highly successful business man, a cynical one for that
matter suddenly feels bad for using another man. Hello, who are we fooling?
My final notes are this: The movie was ‘’just there’’.
