A Simple Lie

"A Simple Lie" is a delightful production from David Wade that tells the story of Boma, played by Bisola Aiyeola, as she tries to win back her lost love by telling a seemingly harmless lie. However, the lie soon spirals out of control and ensnares other couples and lives, leading to a series of revolving suspenseful and comedic moments for the audience to enjoy.

The standout performances of Emmanuel Ikubese, Kachi Nnochiri, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Bukunmi Adeaga all add fire to the film, and their acting is top-notch throughout. Bukunmi, also known as Kie Kie, shines as the revelation of the movie, and in my opinion, she steals the show. Her character aligns with her "Kie Kie" persona, but she executes it flawlessly, adding depth and humor to the film.

While the visual elements of the movie are stunning, I did notice an issue with the editing's spacing and transition in the opening scenes, which felt a bit rushed. However, the director made up for this with explanatory scenes later in the movie in the form of flashbacks, and ultimately, it didn't detract from the overall experience.

Overall, "A Simple Lie" is a must-watch film that showcases exceptional acting, a solid plot, and stunning visual elements. The movie manages to deliver a familiar storyline in a fresh and entertaining way, making it a great addition to Nollywood's offerings on Netflix. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and engaging film.
